In order to be compatible with the widest variety of environments, Stat/Transfer is built on an older Linux system and linked against relatively old libraries. Most newer distributions provide these libraries for compatibility. However some, such as Ubuntu, do not. If Stat/Transfer does not run, you can diagnose the problem by opening a terminal window, navigating to your Stat/Transfer installation directory and then typing stattransfer. If any of the required files are missing from your system, you will then see an error message - likely one such as this:
‘error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory’.
If that is the case, you can install the needed library from your operating system distribution disk or from a copy found on the Internet using a tool such as Google.
