Because Mac OS does not support ODBC, it is necessary to install third party drivers. Actual Technologies ODBC drivers are the most popular. Circle Systems does not support these drivers, but we will tell you how to use them.
For this tutorial we will read an MS Access table that uses the Cyrillic character set.
Configuring the DSN
Before using Stat/Transfer with the Actual Technologies ODBC drivers you must configure and test the DSN in the Driver Manager. This tells the driver that Stat/Transfer expects to receive data encoded in Unicode (UTF-32).
1) Configure the DSN as normal (consult Actual Technologies documentation for instruction).
When you get to the “Advanced Language” button, click it.
2) Check “Application uses the “wide” ODBC API” and “Treat text types as Unicode”.
3) When you have completed the configuration, click the “Test” button.
